Lagos @ 50: Women Group Organise Gender Dialogue

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC), has called on policy makers in Nigeria to reassess the level and effectiveness of her gender equality commitments in different sectors such as education, health, governance and employment in order to improve the lives of women and girls across the country.

Domestic violence victim thanks Ambode for financing surgery

A victim of domestic violence, Mary Sunday, who was assaulted by her fiancé, a police officer, Isaac Gbanwuan, has commended Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State for sponsoring her treatment in India. Mary (32), who also thanked top officials of the state, said she got N9.5 million from the state government to cover part of her reconstructive surgery as a result of burns.

Youth AccountabilityParliament (YAP) is an initiative of WARDC. This Parliament is indeed a shadow Parliament of a parliamentary system of government. The essence of YAP is to build the capacity of both young women and men, to engage in governance processes at the local government levels.
